No Skimpies, here tonight!
Golden Eagle HotelKalgoorlie/Boulder was hit by an earthquake yesterday (20.04.2010) reading 5 on the richter scale with aftershocks still happening today. Most of the damage was done to the hotels in Boulder and to some houses. My sister works at the Rec Hotel in Boulder and she said that is was pretty scary stuff & with the engineers checking out the structure of the buildings (as some of these hotels are over 100 years old) not sure whether she has a job to go back to. My niece who is 12, has the rest of the school week of as a couple of the roofs in her school collapsed. She had put on her facebook that it felt like an 7 or 8 on the richter scale. Did not have the heart to tell her "how would she know as she has never been in one that size except for yesterday", bless her! Lucky no one was seriously injured. Hopefully they will be able to rebuild the old buildings? Who says Kal/Boulder is boring??
